Comments on the WOWBible I would not recommend the WOWBible for the reasons given below: I've been a daily user of the GoBible since September 2008. I bought a new WowBible in June 2009. I was very excited when I read it features but my excitement was followed by disapointment after one month of ownership. The WOWBible Lacks a key-lock feature to prevent accidental interruption of operation. Unlike the GoBible that has a key-lock feature to prevent accidental interruption of your listening. Thw WOWBible has poor battery life when compared to the GoBible. You can get about 6-7 hours (normal scriptural reading and listening) then you have to recharge, or you can keep it plug into the power source (USB or AC) if you are close to it. I can get more than 24 hours continuous use from my GoBible depending on the capacity of the AAA battery I am using, and I always have additional spare rechargeable AAA batteries. There is no feature that remembers where you left off from your last audio listening or scriptural reading session. Unlike the GoBible that take you back to where you left off. The book mark feature takes you back to the marked verse, but it does not allow you to continue through the remaining portion of the scripture. It marks only that verse, then it stops at the end of that verse and you have to manually search for the book, chapter and verse where you were. I dislike this so very much. Also if you try to go forward, it will take you to the next book marked item. Each time you turn on the WOWBible its like starting over for the first time, you have to manually select the book, chapter and verse, and it does not pick up from where you last ended your scriptural study. I like the features that allows you to add music file, voice notes and other recordings and give them specific file names. The volume control on the WOWBible does not work when you play back a recorded message, so you hear your recorded message at an unpredictable level over which you have no control. You will have to depend on an external volume control (external speakers or head sets with a volume control) to lower the volume on your recorded files. The WOWBible has good coordination between the audio and written scriptures. So you can read and listen at the same time. This works well if you don't increase the text size and if the particular verse fits on the screen. If you increase the text size of what you are reading and it cannot all fit on the screen you will have to manually scroll to the next page to read and keep up with the audio reading. The WOWBible can only perform one function at a time. You cannot read and/or listen to scriptures and use another feature at the same time. It will end whatever feature you are using to begin use of the new function. All the PDA information has to be manually inputted from the WOWBible keypad. Not a very flexible PDA. I like the exam feature to test scriptural knowledge. However, the exam questions are presented in a random manner. For example, if you go to the exam in the book of Ruth, the questions appear in a random manner and it jumps to different books of the bible. I don't like this. If I am studying Ruth then it should at least stay in the book of Ruth, and not take me to Exodus or some other book. I like the back-lit feature. You can read when the lights are dimmed in church or in a darkened room or if you are a passenger in a vehicle. I like the built in speaker. It is clear and understandable, and is very handy when I am relaxing alone and don't want to use a headset. When listening to the scriptures, you cannot control the volume using the control buttons, you have to use the stylus and tap the +/- to control the volume. Not very convienent when driving and listening through the built-in speaker (not convient at all). You can control the volume of music using the control buttons and the stylus. I like the dictionary function. I like the ability to load music, pictures, movies and ebooks on the WOWBible. I have not personally loaded any movies or ebooks, so I cannot comment on how these features work at this time. I would not recommend the WOWBible. Its greatest feature is that you can read and listen to the scriptures. All other features seems to need some refinements. It is a good start, but I think many refinements are needed to make it suitable for what a potential user is expecting from the features described, at its listed price. I am not happy and with my WOWBible and I am still happy with my GoBible. From what I have read the new NOWBible appears to be an improvement over the WOWBible. I don't know if which if any of the shortfalls that I dislike above have been addressed in the NOWBible.

I purchased this wow bible and oh my goodness how did I not have this much earlier. This little bible is a powerhouse. I can drive now and listen to the Word of God while I'm driving.Sometimes I don't get a chance to have my devotion and read the word early in the morning. Well this wow bible put a stop to that because now I can listen to it while I'm driving to work. I took it on a trip with me on the plane and it was the best thing I could have done. Had a problem at first but when you contact the company they get to you right away and they solve the problem. I can't live without my wow bible. It's a must have.

I love the WOW bible.. I use it on my long drive to work. The sketch is great for notes/prayers. It is more then i thought it would be. BUT I only got to use it for a week or so then the battery quit charging.. Luckily the company is really nice and they let me send it back and I am waiting on the new replacement.... I feel lost without it.. Got used to using it every day.. The Exam is really fun....

I like the fact that you can listen to the word anytime and anywhere. It is not a difficult gadget to use.

I love this product! It's small and compact and can go everywhere with me. It's nice to be able to slide it in my pocket or backpack and have it anytime during the day. I sometimes have trouble sleeping because my mind goes a million miles a minute as I lay in bed at night. I'll put on the auto-play feature and timer, and I'll be able to settle my mind with God's word. I highly recommend it!

I was really wowed by this bible initially, until I had problems with the SD card popping out. I returned the first one and I got another one quickly without problems but not long afterwards the same thing happened with the second one. I was told that a newly designed one was forthcoming. I have not yet received it. Also the alam goes off even when it is set on off. I have not been able to disarm it. It stays on if it is not turned off immediately causing the battery to go down. I suggest if you don't have one just WAIT until the updated one is available. Love it, just needs some improvements. I am still waiting for one that works properly. Regina

Excellent choice I really appreciate the wow bible there is a lot we can do with this.Listen to the bible, seek verses and words, listen to music, put pictures, they also have a contact book and much more. The sound is very good I'll recommand the wow bible without any hesitation.

The Color WOW Bible is everything you would want to listen or read the Scriptures. The speaker has a good voice easy to understand. The case is a lot lighter than my Pocket PC and easy to carry on an arm strap when I am running or exercising. I especially like that you can use a micro SD card and download mp3 commentaries from other sources. My instructions say to use only 2GB, but I have an 8GB card filled with music and Biblical teachings. Also, Amazon has a better price than what I paid at a Christian book store.

Wow, where do I start? This is an awesome product! Let me say that I have purchased one for both of my mother's, one for my self and a half of one before the entire audio bible came out. I now own the whole audio bible. My children even love this. Both of my mothers meaning my mother and mother in law love this product. We go to sleep to this at night, we listen to this in the car in the mornings when we start our day. I even listen to this at work. This is so awesome. I even sometimes use my print bible to go back to study what I have heard. My My what an awesome product.... we skip around, we just enjoy our product. It is so awesome! If you don't own your own copy, I will tell you that you are missing out. It is like you are in a movie, and the sound the quality is so awesome. This is worth every bit that you spend. I don't see what the complaint is about, as this is awesome, Daniel, and Moses were different people, who probably had different voices. This to me makes the bible come alive, through voice. Maybe The Word of Promise is what some who do not enjoy Inspired By The Bible Experience will enjoy. Both are great, but I like the product that I have purchased and so does my family and who every I have shared this with. It is awesome. My husband was every impressed with this product. Well there are many audio bibles out there, and for the ones that I have own, this is the best one. The last one that I owned before this set, I only purchased half of it, and once this product came out I gave that half away and purchased this one. This has helped me in my devotional time and on the go and rush time. If you have a hard time reading the bible, try this, as you won't be disappointed. Also our children range in ages from 1 to 9 and they love this bible, maybe we are just fans of audio books, because that is the way that I can get my reading completed while doing housework etc. This is also good for bible study. The background to me is not a distraction, you hear nature and waves. I just am a fan of this product and believe that it is awesome. I have also gained a better understand and can remember more of the word when I hear this through the audio bible. Gen is so powerful! In my experience with this product the voices were clear and you could understand them, through the background noise. The back ground noise enhances the product to me. In closing, I have the entire set on cd. My household has been blessed by this product, we are grateful that this was produced. Grateful that the children even ask to listen to this, as they could chose to listen to so many other things. Their focus could be else where. All I know is that everyone that has encountered this product that I know from my own experience has been blessed. Enjoy your copy!

I don't like the dramatization. It's not what I expected. When I read the Bible, I read it as God's voice to me. I don't like the performed dialogue as though this were entertainment. For me, the Bible is a compilation of the writers' experience of God and this rendition detracts from the person to person feel I get when I read the words from the page. I'm very disappointed. I wish I could get my money back and try again for a simple reading of a modern translation such as Today's English. That is really what I was looking for. The ad for this in Amazon said it was TNIV. I thought perhaps the NIV had been updated, but it sure sounds the same to me! I feel like they misrepresented the product, but maybe I just didn't understand the "Inspired by ... The Bible Experience" If you like drama in Bible reading, you might like this.

Someone had recommended this to me, saying it was probably the best audio version of the Bible. I have only listened to the James Earl Jones version. It was pretty good, but this one has the advantage of a larger cast. I'm actually only to Luke so far, but so far, the presentation is very nice. The TNIV version they use seems to replace the word men with people a lot, but I don't think they changed anything significant, those are contested in various versions of the Bible anyway. The message is still there. For those of you afraid to read the Bible because it's just too big, try this out and start with the New Testament. The Bible is really 66 separate books written across many different genres. The accounts in the gospels are brought to life in a new way. Try it, you won't regret it.

I decided to listen to the Gospel of Mark first - in the very 1st chapter there was an error - instead of 'Jesus was moved with compassion' it says instead 'Jesus was indignant' I don't see how this type of error can be excused; why would they not have had someonee review each recording and edit mistakes. I tried a sampling of other books and I personally did not care for the constant background noise. I had thought that it was only occassionally when appropriate not as continuous background sounds - even for Psalms. Very distracting. Mainly it sounds of people talking, animal sounds, banging - which I just didn't care for since my goal was to hear and follow the reader rathr then be distracted from what was being said. The readers voices make it still worth listening too, though difficult, the readings are very well done - but the error from the beginning and the constant, and to me unnecessary background noises, were not what I had wanted or expected. I would certainly consider buying another version of this if they were to come out with just the voices or soft music background only. Has any recording - cd or dvd - been done using nature sounds as background only - ocean, thunder, water? or relaxing music?

Truly this is the best audio Bible I've ever listened to. So many seem to be dull or poorly edited. This one comes ALIVE! I'm not a huge fan of the NIV Bible and wish this came in NLT or even KJV, but it is simply amazing. I love listening to it and even my kids (ages 11 & 13) really enjoy it. It's easy to tell these are not just "readers" but "actors" as they really do seem to make it come alive. The background noise & music does not detract, but makes it more theatrical. Although this is "acting" - the text read aloud is the exact Bible in this version. No "ad libbing" (if you will). I spent my birthday money from my mother on this & am so glad I did. I highly & enthusiastically recommend it!

I really enjoy the NLT version of the Bible. This CD set has great sound effects and music. It's not just a man reading, it's actually being acted out with various people reading. I love it!

I bought this product so that I could have the Bible on my MP3 player. However, it does not rip to the computer because of licensing so I cannot put it on my player :o( Sound quality is good as a CD.

Execellent value, and the Best Price, Fast Shipping! Needs Slightly more than 4GB to full load to your MP3 player. I like the simplicity and the limited dramatization. The voice is good and easy to understand. The NLT version is the best for audio presentation of the scriptures. I can listen to 5,10 chapters, or even a whole book at one setting which helps me to see the bigger picture and tie things together from book to book.

I'm from Korea. So I'm not an American. So this audio bible is so helpful for me. This audio is recorded dramatized. Very good!!!

I recently purchased a copy of The Holy Sanctuary Bible - New Living Translation and all I can say is I am delighted with it. The packaging is excellent, the reading is enjoyable and easy to listen to and the occasional strands of background music are pleasant and non-distracting. All in all I would say it is an excellent buy.

If you want music, strange cadences, and over-dramatic readings skip this, but if you want voices that read clearly, without rushing, and with feeling appropriate to the meaning and drama of the text ... check this out. My only suggestion would be to increase further the diversity of voices and accents without loosing the English language quality. Good move in the right direction!

When I used to read the NIV printed Bible, I listened to Zondervan's Dramatised NIV (ISBN 9780310918639) - which is excellent. But having upgraded my Printed Bible to TNIV, I ordered this product to replace my Audio Bible. What an anti-climax! Moving from a dramatised Bible to a narration is like downgrading from a colour TV to a black & white. I've already sold this product privately for eur20. Firstly, the matching of voices to books is perfunctory. No-one knows who wrote the Letter to the Hebrews but the most likely candidate is a woman. For more information, read Ruth Hoppin's excellent "Priscilla's Letter" (ISBN 9781882897506) & its reviews. On this occasion, Zondervan have employed a MALE voice for Hebrews and a FEMALE voice for the Letter of James, which is anomalous. INTRODUCTIONS: These are read over some tacky, late-80s style background music. While the intros to certain books are mildly helpful (eg. Genesis, Exodus, Ephesians, 2 Peter et. al.), others are not. In some cases there's a lack of attention to detail so uncharacteristic with Zondervan. For example, we're told Paul wrote 12 NT letters when in fact he wrote 13. Also, the 'tone' employed can sound patronising. The intro to Song of Songs is worded for 10-year-olds. Adults simply don't speak that kind of language in the 21st century. Moreover, in attempting to "modernise" the presentation they've tried TOO hard to cite contemporary, everyday situations that are just not appropriate to the Biblical context. Below are just five examples... LEVITICUS (Traffic lights) 2 SAMUEL (Loan officers approving loans) 2 TIMOTHY (A golfer's shot off the tee) TITUS (Your car's overdue oil-change) 3 JOHN ("Muscle memory") Just to elaborate on 2 Samuel slightly; Reckless lending artificially inflates the cost of essential resources such as homes. Scripture does not support the notion that increased personal debt is a blessing. If anything, it argues the reverse (Isaiah 5:8). To give credit where credit's due, Zondervan have used voices from BOTH sides of the Atlantic, which helps to give the message a more 'global' flavour. And it's presented in the usual tastefully designed, zip-up case. But this Audio-Bible just doesn't "light my candle". Zondervan's TNIV 80-CD "Bible Experience" (see ISBN 9780310926306 & its reviews) is not without flaws, but it beats this one hands down.

With apologies to all who have winced upon reading 'God is my copilot' on the back of somebody else's car, this audio version of the Bible (Today's New International Version) makes car time like, well, like having God as one's copilot. Brilliantly read without the cutesie music and drama that are available on other recordings, this is just the Bible, read with the right amount of panache to bring out this great book's dramatic potential but without making anybody cringe or suspect that the reader needs to invest in an over-the-counter hemorrhoid remedy. Because I love the Bible and spend lots of time in my car, I am very excited about this product's recent arrival. To boot, it comes in one very handy carrying case, the whole shootin' match fitting in a small-to-medium-sized-purse in a masculine or neutral color that fits in any number of crevices in the average car. But of course nobody drives the average car. We each drive *our* car and *mine* just became a little bit better place for spending quality time. Good grief, life is good.

I purchased three of these for Christmas gifts. I also thought that this was an audio CD. They cannot play these in their cars or on their home sound systems. The description should make it clear that these are MP3 files and not CD's. I wish I had known before they were unwrapped an used as I would have returned them.

I highly recommend The Message. It's awesome to listen to the Bible and really understand The Word of God.

I, too, thought that this was an audio CD. My son cannot play this in his car. The description should make it clear that these are MP3 files and not CD's per se.

it may just be me, but I couldn't get any sound when playing in my car.

There is too much promotion about the author on the cd. If I don't want to hear that every time, I have to fast forward.

Every publisher divides the source book by page or by chapter. This MP3 audio bible is really helpful because the running time is around 63 hours, hence the MP3 format. The files on the audio bible tends to follow XXBook.MP3 where XX is the chapter number, and Book is a shortened book of the bible you're working in. Some people don't like the idea of having to group the chapters into separate folders, and still others doesn't like the chapter breaks since some chapters are quite long. In my personal experience, the chapter breaks gives the listener MP3s that are about two-five minutes long for each chapter being read. As an individual with a print-related disability, I buy audio books and I'd need to convert the audio format into MP3 format and I group files into chapter folders. I use a digital talking book player called Victor Reader Stream. With this player, I can pause the reading and resume mid-sentence. If I were to use a commercial player (say an iPod), the reading goes too fast. With my DTB player, I can slow down the reading to the pace where I can comprehend the material. I also like to buy a large-print version of the book (in this case, a large print bible) and follow along. I usually study for anywhere between 30mins to 1 1/2 hours per sitting. And with the MP3 version, I can always replay the book or particular chapters that I need to hear (and study) again. That's a plus. I was unsure about how the dramatized bible compared to the print version. So I do follow along with a print version, and it's the same thing. Because I can replay tracks that I need more study on, I find that the dramatize version really sinks in. Which is a good thing. To close on the lack of folders for each book, the publisher doesn't really know how the end user (the reader and listener) will use the product since there's a lot of different MP3 players on the market. 4 out of 5.

Makes a great companion when you need to study particular parts of the Bible. Reading and Hearing the Bible are two excellent resources. Very clear and easy to listed to and understand.

This CD's are great. I have been looking for a bible CD set that was not over dramatized, wasn't expensive, and didn't have a hundred CD's. This set is great. I'm not sure why others have complained about the MP3 files. Each Chapter of the Bible is a separte file on the CD. I can listen to the CD in my car and go to the next chapter just by tapping the fast forward button. One CD might have over 200 files (aka tracks) but at least you can skop to what where book and chapter you want.

I received this audio bible as my birthday present. I think no present is more precious than the own words of God. I hope this review would be helpful to those who are interested but still hesitating to get a copy of this product: MUSIC The background music is kept to minimum. It doesn't aim to stir one's emotion, but to set the ambience right. The volume is not high so it is not distracting at all. For instance, while Jesus is preaching, the music is light-hearted and gentle. While Jesus is tempted by the devil in the desert, there is this melody which slightly highlights the sense of danger and tension. For most of the time when the narrator speaks, the melody is soothe and relaxing. A little music really makes it easier to listen through the narration. SOUND EFFECT Now this is a "dramatized" version and perhaps one would wonder whether it is "over-dramatized". Here are some examples how the sound effect is done: - water flew when Jesus was baptized - rooster crew immediately after Peter denied Jesus thrice - donkey hoofs kicked the ground when Jesus entered Jerusalem triumphantly - coins splashed on the ground when Jesus cleansed the temple - soldiers spat and struck when they mocked Jesus - etc The sound effect makes you feel like you are right there in the scene. It stimulates imagination instantly. Most of all, the music and sound effect together keep you from dozing off. VOICE Before getting this audio bible, my main concern was whether I would mistake the actor's voice as Jesus's voice (likewise God's, Satan's and other characters' voices). I had a worry that after repetitive listening I would subconsciously take that voice as Jesus's. But fortunately, no, I didn't. After a year of listening, I am still 100% aware that it was the actor's voice. I understand that Jesus's voice might sound different. I think most of you reading the review of this product might have seen movies or drawings of Jesus (or other characters in the bible) somewhere else. I believe you won't instantly take that image as Jesus, right? It's the same when I listen to this audio bible. I keep telling myself it is only recorded by human voice. So I don't have the problem of confusion whether Jesus's voice was like that. (After all, Jesus doesn't speak English but probably Aramaic with some Hebrew and Greek.) ACTING Some people have comments on how the actors and actresses articulate their voices, accents, emotions, etc in this recording. I do not have much problem with that. Bottom line is, I think the production team did this in a very respectful way. I feel very comfortable listening to that. PRONUNCIATION I am not an English native speaker. Most of the vocabularies in the bible are unfamiliar to me, pronunciation-wise. I am very glad to know how most of the names of persons and places are pronounced. I truly recommend this to all non-English-native-speakers who are studying the bible in English. For native speakers, there are also some benefits in terms of pronunciation. Do you know how to read "Eloi, Eloi, Lama Sabachthani? (Oh God, oh God, why have you forsaken me?)" as Jesus shouted on the cross? PRICE Is it expensive? Yes, if you unpack and place it in your bookshelf to collect dust. No, if you transfer it to your ipod or cellphone and listen to it (God's words) anywhere anytime you like. It definitely would be worth the price if you can share it with your family and friends, particularly those who have the resistance of being forced to accept the gospel. I have family members and friends who are interested in knowing God but at this moment not that comfortable being pushed by other Christians. It would be perfect to let them listen to the bible themselves so as to allow time and space for them get close to God in their own pace at this stage. OVERALL I am very thankful that I can understand God in this way by listening to His story. I can't imagine what I would have missed if I didn't have the chance in experience God's word in this way. I can't help but wonder whether it is just another way God tries to speak to me. If that is the case, I am very much flattered. As it is said, we didn't choose God, it's God who chose us. Perhaps God is trying to speak to you too. Hope this review would be useful to you. God bless.

This product is a definite buy. I love this version of the Bible, I love the fact that its dramatized, it makes it very easy to go through the longer books of the Old Testament. I wouldn't use it for in depth studying or preparing a sermon because of cross-referencing, but to read through the Bible it's excellent. I put the whole thing on my Ipod so it's completely portable. I wish Zondervan would do some other versions of the Bible like this. (KJV, NKJV, etc.) But again a definite buy for anyone new to the Bible and scholars alike.
