Making the Shift: How to Live Your True Divine Purpose Making the Shift: How to Live Your True Divine Purpose

Reviews

I just got this CD set yesterday and finished it today. I was originally hesitant to purchase it as I have heard a lot of Wayne Dyer CD's over the years and thought it might be too much of the same. As in any of his CD's, there is some repeat material but there is so much new material--it is definitely worth listening to a few times. I felt inspired as well as feeling very centered and grounded as I listened to the CD's. This is a recording of a live workshop that was presented in Maui. Participates apparently paid $500 or more to attend. But listening to these CD's, you feel like you were there--and it is a lot cheaper than actually going. I have already put the CD's on my IPOD and purchased 2 additional sets for friends/family. I highly recommend this CD set. I personally like it much better than the movie of the same title and felt that I got more out of it. I also purchased the book but haven't read it so I don't know how much of the material repeats itself. I do know that the book is fairly short so I imagine there is a lot of material in here that isn't in the book. This CD set speaks to a wide range of audiences and Dr. Dyer does not speak to or adhere to a specific religion. People from all religions and even no religions can relate to this material and benefit greatly from it. A lot of the material deals with the EGO and moving past EGO to a more centered and grounded place. Dr. Dyer teaches paths to happiness that are not based on anything you do or have. Therefore, if you put to work these steps in your life, you can find happiness regardless of your situation because you will be living more in your Divine Purpose. I am very appreciative that Dr. Dyer continues to develop his work and delve into new areas or deeper into areas already taught by him. I would highly recommend this CD set. And, personally, I would recommend this over the movie--although both are good if you can afford both.

Excuses Begone! 8-CD: How to Change Lifelong, Self-Defeating Thinking Habits Excuses Begone! 8-CD: How to Change Lifelong, Self-Defeating Thinking Habits

Great book. Always a pleasure to read Mr.Wayne Dyer. Read it and you will find the real one that is in you.

You should read this book if you want to get a perspective on personal responsibility and reinforcement of the idea that one can work to overcome habitual behavior. I find this book hard to review since, on the one hand, it presents a positive philosophy of life in which we can make conscious choices to improve our lives and cast off habits and excuses that prevent us from achieving our goals, while, on the other hand, the book contains a lot of new age psychobabble. There is not much new here, but one can draw inspiration and motivation from Dyer's ideas and his very positive presentation. It is a good quick read as a refresher for understanding that we should strive to adopt more positive and active thoughts to help us act and to achieve our goals. The book contains no practical advice on getting rid of excuses. Dyer provides a few affirmations, but nothing to really assist in overcoming excuses; these affirmations are useful but not particularly imaginative. The biggest criticism I have of this book is his consistent reference to God as the source for a mysterious energy that will align an enlightened, "excuses begone" practitioner, with the universe such that anything can be accomplished. His persistent reference to God, or universal energy, is tiresome and is a way to abdicate responsibility. OK, I agree that having more positive thoughts will encourage constructive action that is likely to improve one's chances of success in a given activity, but it is a cop out for Dyer to tell the reader that he or she is a "divine being" and that is why some things will work out. Faith in oneself is essential to success, but Dyer loses credibility by exhibiting the religious fervor of a new age guru. Nonetheless, I give the book three stars because the basic philosophy (good self esteem) is sound and Dyer does provide inspiration.

I loved this book. Dyer takes the woo-woo out of spirituality and makes it doable, approachable and sensible. I was so inspired by his treatment of memes and mind viruses that I bought the books he refers to when explaining them. His list of the eighteen common excuses that we all use, and how to think about them in order to change whether we're willing to continue to give power to them or not, was enormously helpful to me. He brings things to light that I had pretended not to know, and in a gentle, kind manner, shows how to rethink thoughts that had kept me stuck for years. I am so grateful for his work, for his clarity and loving spirit.

This is an excellence book. I normally do not like to read, but I found this book so hard to put down. The title is so defined, and the examples and paradigms used were significantly related to our everyday lives and thought patterns. I identified with some of the examples that he used, and upon reading them I said to myself -'Wow, I do that, or say that'. After reading this book I am now conscious of how I look at life and I re-examine putting off things or not doing what I know I should be doing to make me a happier person; who can create the possibilities of being who I want to be, with endless opportunities for self-growth by empowering myself with positive actions and thoughts.

Pretentious and unconventional. Not a great self help choice, at least not for me.

Meditations for Manifesting : Morning and Evening Meditations to Literally Create Your Heart's Desire Meditations for Manifesting : Morning and Evening Meditations to Literally Create Your Heart's Desire

I love Wayne Dyer & I've been doing the Ah and Ohm meditations on my own for quite some time. I was really hoping to get some recordings to meditate to. Unfortunately I downloaded this recording at audible.com and it just plops down a 1-hour long recording, with no apparent "tracks." One has to listen to the full recording, then attempt to fast forward to the beginning of the meditation you want. This is not at all practical for me. I don't want to buy the cd if it's set up the same way. Can someone who owns the cd please tell me if I can listen to separate tracks? Or, can anyone recommend a good recording of the ahh and ohm chants that does not have any voice-over affirmations -- just the chanting? Thanks for any help you can provide!

Don't get me wrong, I do admire how Wayne Dyer has impacted the lives of many for so many years. But sometimes I wonder what his motivation is behind cranking out so many products. The truth is, when you churn and burn, some of your products are going to be crap. And for the most part, this CD just isn't that great. Yes, the message behind it is powerful. And yes, there is a lot of food for thought in his words. But I just couldn't bare to listen to this on a daily basis.

Meditation as far as I am concerned is the way to embrace calm, love and joy into your life. It is certainly a way to continually remind yourself about being mindful as you go thru your life rather than living unconsciously. From listening to a series of my favorite CDs, I truly have learned the importance of living in the present to get all that you want from life. I enjoy Wayne's CD's but my favorite is Living The Secret Everyday: My Secret Meditation probably because it is a 15 minute review and reminder of the Secret Workbook that really got me hooked the LOA and changed my life. If you haven't ever meditated, 8 Minute Meditation: Quiet Your Mind. Change Your Life. is a great place to start.

I got this CD as well as Dattatreya Siva Baba's Sounds for Manifesting ( I believe this is the guru that taught Dr. Dyer this meditation technique ) a few days ago and I think it compliments each other. Dr. Dyer's is more mainstream, however, and is not so full of mantras as Datta's, so it's more accessible for people who are uncomfortable with something with a more religious slant. I tried this out for the first time with my husband yesterday and his comment was he didn't quite like how Dr. Dyer speaks in between the chants, but personally if he didn't do it that way I'd be so relaxed I'd fall straight to sleep! I feel I was able to stay in alpha level and thus feel it is very, very powerful. For all who are skeptical that ahhhs and oooohs can change your life, all change starts from the inside and when your energy body aligns with the vibrations of the chants you WILL feel a shift, even if it is slight. And inner change will inevitably lead to outer change. I've never been much of a meditator, I prefer visualizations more, but this CD is a keeper and I intend to incorporate this into my daily life and recommend it to my clients as well!

When I sit down and pause my life, I make sure everything stops and I am dedicating my time in search of peace. When I played the cd for my co-workers their reaction was to laugh and laugh. I told them that there is a reason Dr. Wayne Dyer created the cd. I am new to meditation and I have reason to believe that it is a key to becoming the person I always wish I was. It takes discipline and structure to find time to sit and repeat sounds. I feel like I am sitting in front of Dr. Wayne Dyer and he is guiding me to open a door where light is bright and illuminating. His voice is comforting and trusting. In these uncertain times, this meditation cd makes me feel like everything is going to be ok. Take the time to quiet the mind and discover the "Ah" and "Om" sounds float from Dr. Wayne to you. We are worth it.
