If you are looking for a collection of romantic songs to be played while having a drive or a walk with your romantic interest or even by yourself, this is the one to have: issued by the European Sony/Bravo label, it focuses on the songs who were on the radio in the 80's. If you are a "son of the 80's" and enjoy music to awaken your contemplative and quietest side, buy it! While hard to find outside the US, it is worth having. Further recommendations: purchase also Volumes 2, 5 and 7, which are MUCH better than some of the most recent items of the collection.

If you do the math, the 4:3 aspect ratio works out to 1.33 which is the NTSC format for home viewing. I'm going to enjoy watching both format versions, and the black and white, plus color quite immensely of this cult classic from our brilliant L.I. director Stanley Kubrick. The DVD probably wasn't even thought of when this film was made, CD's might have been a concept at the time of 8-tracks and before the cassette tape cartridge. Have fun boys and girls!

One of the must watch movies. This movie is in the list of IMDB's top 100 and rightly so. The comedy, satire, and great acting all come together in of Stanley Kubiks best works. You gotta love this classic, and now I have it on DVD! Every time I watch it is like the first time, I always crave a good movie that really makes me think. Fabulous! Arrived as advertised: shrink wrapped and new. No fingerprints, popcorn butter or half-chewed jujubees. Highly recommended as a source of quality DVDs.

Whenever i get sick of listening to politicians lying and talking double dutch constantly on the TV, i feel a satisfying antidote is to watch Dr. Strangelove. This film isn't politics as such, but hits the nail on the head of how people in power just can't see straight. worth watching once a year at least!

Behave Yourself Behave Yourself

Reviews

Considering the amount of talent involved on both sides of the camera, why RKO's BEHAVE YOURSELF (1951) fails as entertainment is most baffling. Produced by Norman Krasna and Jerry Wald, with photography by James Wong Howe, a theme song written by Buddy Ebsen and a cast that includes at least eight well-known actors, none of these can save this movie from itself. Perhaps the script is poorly crafted. There's clearly zero chemistry between the leads and Mr. Granger struggles in a "frustrated by circumstances" role best suited to Cary Grant. One watches this, recognizes all the familiar faces, and wants to savor the movie, get into what should be a delicious story, but it's nearly impossible. The ultimate answer for this flop may be found in that late '50s stageplay GYPSY, when brassy Rose, mother to Gypsy Rose Lee declares with utmost confidence: "Ya either got it, or ya ain't." That's it! The missing ingredient, that secret of success which eluded all involved with BEHAVE YOURSELF... is confidence. For all its fluster, bluster and busy-ness, an undercurrent of well-hidden timidity doomed this picture to an oblivion from which it has since been needlessly rescued by various public domain and budget brand home video manufacturers. If you like the people in this curio by all means spend the 80 minutes to see it, there's surely worse out there. But when it's over and if you too feel something's lacking here, please remember that when it comes to motion pictures, "pizazz," "oomph" and "it" have, like lightning bolts, always been impossible to control, predict or bottle. So, has BEHAVE YOURSELF "got it"? Frankly... it ain't. Parenthetical number preceding title is a 1 to 10 imdb viewer poll rating. (5.9) Behave Yourself (1951) - Farley Granger/Shelley Winters/Bill Demarest/Margalo Gillmore/Lon Chaney Jr./Hans Conried/Elisha Cook Jr./Allen Jenkins/Sheldon Leonard/Marvin Kaplan

When husband (Farley Granger) forgets his anniversary he tries to buy a quick present for his wife (Shelley Winters) but ends up with a gangster's dog instead. Of course she falls in love with the dog which causes her husband problems at every turn. He spends the entire movie trying to rid himself of the dog only to become entangled in several murders. This movie will have you laughing from start to finish.

It was funny and cute in the beginning, then later, it just got crazy and cunfusing! The Mob use a cute Welsh terrier to lead them to find their stuff. Bill Denny walks in and the dog decides to go with him. When he forgets his anniversary, his wife thinks he got the dog for her. Soon, the Mob are out looking for the dog! This movie will make you hate mother-in-laws! I probably wouldn't recommend that you BEHAVE YOURSELF!!!

Although I like the actors in this movie I found it rather boring. It is a pretty unfunny comedy which probably has aged badly. There is some interesting 1950s modern Californian architecture on display, though, which is of some historical interest.

This is a great classic 50's gangster comedy involving a cute terrier dog that has a great cast including Shelley Winters and now it's on DVD for all to enjoy!!

The Overton Window The Overton Window

Reviews

First off, Im a big fan of Beck, Ive been listening to his radio show since he was still on HLN on TV. Ive read several of his other books ie Common Sense, Inconvenient Book etc. I have also read everything by Vince Flynn, and Brad Thor, who give Beck some props on the cover of this book. Now while this book is good, it simply does not compare in the slightest to the quality of writing by Flynn or Thor. I think they are being overly nice to a friend by writing what they did on the cover. I also think that if this book was not written by Glenn that it would be rated as a 2 or 3 star by most people. In my opinion its a fairly good book, but the real sell is the author, not the quality of the book, the plot, storyline etc. Now that being said, it is a good book. I enjoyed it for the most part. There are a few parts that are just rather cheesy like the Miss Portman bit. The plot is a little bit thin, and there is very little in the way of character developement, background etc. The details on the plot to destroy the USA are few and far between. It just doesnt have a sense of drama, or any kind of 'edge of your seat' suspense. This book could have benefitted greatly from another 50 or 100 pages of detail, and background etc. It just seems too rushed, too thin on detail etc. However All in all id say its a good book, but its just not great.

I must admit, it was hard for me to actually see myself rating a Glenn Beck book lower than a four star, but I did on this one. The reason I did was (similar to some other three star reviewers) that the story started to captivate me while peaking my interest, but proved to be in vain as far as the thriller part of the story. I admit I mostly read non-fiction books, but have read view thrillers as well. The characters were interesting but not complete. I am a reader who really enjoys putting me in the place of the character until I can literally see and hear them in my head. I could accomplish but could not really get an in-depth look. The book could have been a hundred pages longer in my opinion. Now for the good stuff! I enjoyed the short chapters and easy reading of the print. The book also helped me to see more clearly the insider look into the actual people who might be planning this sort of plot. The fact is that I did not have any proper knowledge of the Overton Window before reading about it in the story. This is a concept that plugs a lot of gaps in my own personal education on various schemes and maneuvers being carried out on the American public every day. I think that this book had good information and explanations of the facts throughout the story. Without the afterword I would have spent a lot of time wondering what exactly was fact and fiction so I could add the knowledge to my memory bank. Overall, I hate the three stars but I had to give a fair rating for the thriller faction book for what it was meant to be to a reader. I really wished the publishing would have been slowed and more emphasis placed on development of the story and characters.

I am a big fan of Mr. Beck. My husband and I watch his show on FOX every night and I've read a couple of his books. I bought the Overton Window at the airport and was 1/2 way through it by the next evening. I really like the story line and can hear Beck's voice while I read. Good, easy read.

Glenn has blended his knowledge of historical and current events with just enough fiction and supposition to create a provocative read. I don't care what your political leaning is... your Overton Window will move.

Well, were to start? All political spin and bias aside, this book is so-so. I am not a fan of talking-heads but curiosity got the better of me with this book. Basically all this book seemed to be for is people who already agree with it's message and does little to reinforce it's point. It feels like Beck ceated an outline of talking points and placed little bits of story around it. it's not bad, but not great and at many points the story feels spoon fed. In conclusion, if you are a fa of Beck you will love this. If you are not a fan, you will hate it. And if you are indifferent like me, you will find it rather cliche and similar to an action movie like all the other ones that has little to stand out from the rest.

America's March to Socialism: Why we're one step closer to giant missile parades America's March to Socialism: Why we're one step closer to giant missile parades

I believe in Socialism. Social Security, Medicare, a Public Option or better yet Universal Health care. It would be great if all of you so-called conservatives would move to another State and all of us Liberals could move to a Liberal State. What I don't understand is how can conservatives believe in the Republican Party they don't practice what they preach? By the way the book is completely wrong about Socialism.

We have read "Arguing with Idiots" and "Common Sense" were very pleased with the books and felt they were a good read. We purchased this and found it not very enlightening and the radio show format difficult to follow and will not purchase radio show CD's in the future.

What ever happened to our conviction as conservatives? People who not only uphold the most righteous constitution in the history of the planet, but who've actually sat down to read it? No, we've fallen under the spell of every other credit card maxing, wine bibbing fool and gotten fat and bleary-eyed while extremists made back room deals in the dark of night with their 'bubbuhz' to further their causes and line their coffers. Besides that, it wasn't "nice" to disagree with the Marxist-Socialist-Regimes that are polluting the minds of college kids and infecting the land like a virulent carcinoma. Oh, and let's be "politically correct" while the worst element of souls pour over our borders with the singular goal of bringing down the "Infidel". AND let's hand all our productivity away to other countries because we're so strangled by labor unions that we can no longer compete! This is all too much like the fairy tale "The Emperors New Clothes"! Well, there's a prophet in the land and he's crying out "The emperor is naked!" to all and any with ears to hear. Glenn Beck is that prophet. Listen UP!

GLENN BACK SPEAKS TRUTH. WE ALL NEED TO HEAR THIS CD AS IT WILL SURELY OPEN YOUR EYES TO THE STATE OF THIS NATION.

Are we witnessing the death of our American ideals? Glenn Beck is continually sounding the alarm and many people are listening. Beck offers a timely message day after day and one wonders what he will tell us next. Some do not like what he's saying, but I would suggest we, at least, listen to this courageous messenger and give him a chance. This offering provides us with a simple way of hearing his warnings.

Not easy reading but extremely informative. Learned things I was never exposed to before.

fantastic book. not able to use cd-rom because I didn't understand that after downloading to computer that I couldn't transfer to mp3 audio. My intent was to listen during a long trip in car. The folks at Best Buy assured that I could transfer when I purchased mp3 player.

With the purchase of the Five Thousand Year Leap I have a greater understanding of our founding fathers and their vision for our country. There is so much information in this book its hard to put it down. The author sites all of his sources, many of which come directly from the founding fahters via letters and documents. This book should be required reading in our schools. The information in this book shows clearly how our history has been changed by politics. We no longer teach our children the real history of this country. THIS BOOK TEACHES THE HISTORY AS IT HAPPENED AND I WOULD LIKE TO SEE A PUSH TO PUT THIS BOOK ON THE REQUIRED READING FOR EVERY STUDENT IN AMERICA.

This product is a must for all. Learn or refresh your knowledge of what the founding fathers intended the US government to be. Includes all the media formats so yo can use any way that is convenient, on any electronic device or the traditional way.

An outstanding explanation of the founding process, what the founders had in mind, and how we have migrated away from the founders intent. The book is written in terms that the modern student can follow without learning the dialect of the era. For me it answered many questions and informed of events I was never taught in school. This is the stuff we all must have a firm basic grasp of and it simply has not been taught in schools for over 50 years.
