Relax Your Way to Thin! Hypnosis Weight Loss MotivationReviewsThis hypnosis is phenomenal. I listen to it as I lay down to sleep and wake up early to exercise and eat less all day. Prior to this I would always hit the snooze through my dedicated work out time and eat crap all day. I'm already seeing results! I would DEFINITELY recommend this audio cd! You are supposed to listen to the cd for 21 days in a row. I haven't hit my 21 days yet, but I have noticed a decrease in my emotional eating, like when I am bored or have a craving for chocolate. So it has definitely helped there. I will continue listening to it through January at least as I really want/need to get control of my eating habits. Overall, I would recommend this CD. I am impressed with this CD, and it is working for me. I think you sometimes click with a voice, the music, etc, and this has been a good CD for me. I do sometimes move it further into the relaxation phase (on my IPOD) since I use it at night and relax quickly. I've tried several such tapes/CDs over the years, and this one is the best. It is great for relaxing you and getting one to sleep however ... it had the opposite effect on me ... I gained weight!!! I followed the instructions to a tee. Not too happy! I'll preface this review with my expectations of this product...I wasn't expected to be "hypnotized" and I didn't think it would be a magic bullet that, on its own, would cause me to lose weight. I was looking for positive reinforcement to help me with my diet and exercise. I believe in the power of positive thinking and the subconscious and I have a variety of meditative CDs that I listen to on my ipod as I'm falling asleep. The Good: -Good music to voice volume / ratio. -Background music is calming and not obnoxious or overpowering -I like the self-esteem-related affirmations and imagery - very helpful. -Speaker has a decent voice (though sometimes he reminds me of Regis Philbin or William Shatner, which makes me chuckle) -Contains imagery re: choosing the right foods when grocery shopping, imagining yourself in social situations making the right food choices, as well as imagery re: your ideal body shape. -Beginning of relaxation portion is helpful; he goes through each part of the body and helps you relax. The Bad: -While the meditation/imagery portion of the recording is helpful, about 50% of the relaxation portion is just plain frustrating. After going head-to-toe, mentioning each body part and telling you to let it relax, he tells you to relax even more. That's fine, but the way he does it is annoying. He says, "Let's go to Level B of relaxation...1, 2, 3,4,5 go!" And then he snaps. Heh? What's so relaxing about someone quickly counting down from 5, and then snapping their fingers and telling you to relax? I've heard of slowly counting down while adding in phrases like "let it go" or "deeper relaxed" between the numbers, but just quickly counting down and snapping is more annoying than relaxing. -While other meditations have you picture yourself in an elevator, sinking down into relaxation (or similar imagery) while this guy has you picturing a yardstick. Heh? Picture yourself holding a yardstick where the 36 inch mark on the yardstick is stress and the 0 mark is complete relaxation. Okay, fine. "Now take your relaxation 4 inches closer to the 0 mark." Errr...really? "Now take it 4 more inches closer to the zero mark. Ready, set, go!" Personally, this is more frustrating than relaxing. The bad parts of the meditation annoyed me enough that I used MP3 editing software and took them out of the recording. I bought the exercise motivation meditation from Beverly Hills Hypnosis at the same time I bought this one, so I added "the good parts" of that meditation to the end of this one and - voila - I have a super-charged meditation without the annoying parts! A Guided Meditation for Relaxation, Well Being and HealingReviewsAlthough I have not had an opportunity to listen but once, the CD was very relaxing. I love the voice (always very important when referring to a relaxation or hypnotic CD) of the author. I'm very happy with it and look forward to using it more often. Excellent product. I shared this CD wth several friends and they were all amazed at the effectiveness of the content.. I love Glenn Harrold. His voice is so easy to listen too. Highly recommend any of his CDs. These CD's are an easy listen filled with wonderfully phrased, motivational words. Glenn's Australian accent is a pleasure to listen to. Places on the CD have music as well that accompanies the voice. I LOVE these CD's and own most of them. If you live in the states you may hear an occassional terminology that is not common in the U.S. (Example, in the weight series he uses a weight measurement of a 'stone' which is a British term that represents 14 pounds). This happen rarely and certainly does not detract from the message presented in any of Glenn's CD's. You can't really listen to these in the car as they are a little hypnotic so be sure you are in a stress free mind set and location when you listen to any of therse CD's. I felt they were worth every penny. I look forward to this playing this CD - I have it on my IPOD and use it on my lunch break to focus, motivitate, and balance my energy. It leaves me feeling very good a about myself. PLEASE DONT GET CAUGHT UP WITH HIS ENGLISH ACCENT - THIS IS AN EXCELLENT CD - AND ACCENTS ARE JUST ACCENTS - NOTHING MORE. After listeing to this CD a couple of times you will feel so good that you will not hear the accent anymore. Average Rating:![]() |

Your Power Within! Self Confidence through HypnosisReviewsAt first, I was a bit spectacle of this product, but with time it has helped me change my personal attitude and outlook on life. Personally I am a lot happier, my disposition manages to remain positive in almost all situations, I manage stress better and my co-workers claim I'm "less evil" then before utilizing the CD. I recommend the CD highly, but you must commit to listening as much as possible in an environment conducive to relaxation. Initially I grew up with in alot of negativity in my family but some how became positive and gregarious. The effervescent person I use to be, no longer exists because I allowed other people to bring me down. That person who tries to make your day, that was me.Alot of women hated me even when I was friendly towards them. They gossip about me, give me dirty looks, make sarcastic remarks, verbally attack me and even physically harrased me. I thought this hostility would end after highschool but apparently it doesnt because Ive been sabatoged in the work field.I have gotten to a point where I was purposley dressing down by wear hooded sweaters to not attract attention. When you are constanty being sabatoged begin to think that there is something wrong with you.I know deep down Im wonderful but still have anxiety of being attacked. I enjoy Trevors positive calming voice,he sounds almost unreal.I also like how the end he gives you a choice to fall aleep or wakeup. Thanks a million for the quik service, seems like I just ordered the video and it was here.. Thanks for the great service.. I purchased this Self Confidence CD to deal with my negative mental chatter. New to the writing field, my self doubt beats up on me so strongly I talk myself out of projects before starting them. Trevor Scott has an excellent voice for hypnosis, inspiring trust - I'm not worried he's hidden subliminal message to make me do something against my will. He speaks with so much confidence I am able to internalize his messages. I've bought several hypnosis recordings where foreign accents, unsureness in the voice of the speaker, and background music that sounds like alien landings took the value out of the session, for example: Hypnosis to Enhance Creative Writing by Charles Vald. I was relieved Trever Scott did such a good job with voice, choice of background music, and well worded messages. I would like to see more Hypnosis CD's available from Trever Scott. All this being said, my husband didn't care for his voice but I think that may be because some men would only trust a woman's voice in a hypnosis situation. Excellent Job Trever Scott! Thank you. This has helped me a great deal. I had to give a talk recently and was nervous about doing so. I listened to this c.d. for a week before I had to give my talk and ended up enjoying it instead of dreading it as I usually do. I personally found his voice very soothing. Average Rating:![]() |

IBS Audio Program 100 for Irritable Bowel Syndrome Self-HypnosisReviewsAfter hearing such glowing reviews on the Heather's Help for IBS webpage (where this audio set is often referred to as a "cure") and many stellar reviews on here, I tried this CD set out. My expectations were high, but there wasn't even a placebo effect for me! All these CDs did was give me some relaxation techniques, which can be a little helpful, but didn't solve the problem at all. I found Michael Mahoney's voice could get really irritating at times, and I LIKE british accents. I found that acupuncture and traditional chinese herbal medicine worked really well for me, with zero expectations of them working. If you're really stressed, and think that it might be contributing to your IBS, then give these CDs a try. Otherwise, its a huge (100 hours!) waste of time!! Positive: I've been using the program for three weeks now, just before I go to bed. I've found the sessions very soothing--so much so that I have been unable to stay awake all the way through (on average, about 30 min). Per author, this is okay as your subconscious mind continues to take in the info. My IBS is very mild, so it is hard to comment on how the program has affected my symptoms. However, I generally feel less tense and am able to fall asleep easily and stay asleep, something that was a challenge for me off and on for quite some time. Negative: As some others have mentioned, although it is a 100-day program, there are only 5 sessions plus the Commentary Intro. Although I do not necessarily mind listening to the same session multiple times, I would have preferred more variety. I haven't completed this 100 day course yet but I have been enjoying it. I'm more aware of when I tense up which makes it possible for me to calm down sooner and relax the muscles in my stomach. I was actually pretty optimistic while starting on this program due to all the positive feedback written about it here on Amazon and other places on the web. However, I can not say that I have had any benefit from using it. My IBS is the same as before and my mood is actually even worse than before ... because in these recordings Mike Mahoney always talks about how I am supposed to start feeling better day by day, week by week and how I am gradualy learning to take control over my symptoms. He also talks about being able to live my life the way I want to live it etc ... However, none of that happened to me, and all I ended up with in the end was being very sad and dissapointed. I would happily pay tens of thousands of dollars for a treatment that would actually work, but this ... no further comments. I believe many of those who get anything out of this program benefits from the placebo effects ... which is extremely high among IBS sufferers. To be honest, I was disappointed with the IBS Audio Program. I had purchased a Pain Management program and found it to be far superior. I know this product received many rave reviews which I based my purchase on but I have to disagree with their opinions. Average Rating:![]() |

CureReviewsA wonderful film for those who want a bit of intellectual inspiration with their entertainment. Years ago "Akira" drew me into Anime. And the American version of "Pulse" and finding it out it had a Japanese counterpart which was the original drew me into Asian Horror/Suspense. I saw "Cure" on the suggestion list by the same director plenty of times. But even from the reviews it did not seem like something I would like. But after seeing "Retribution" after some gave it lousy reviews, I found it rather interesting and decided to obtain "Cure". And I was very pleasantly surprised. The film is alluring and ambiguous. Shadowy instead of really dark. And the gore factor was more so surgical than gratuitous. It leads a merry chase that seems to promise a clear solution at the end, but still keeps one mystified. Its somewhat Lovecraftian in that it merges possibility and reality and throws it together just enough to make one wonder.... would that be possible.... St. Germain would be proud. An unassuming man in a plaid sport coat walks with a confident gait through the streets and removes a section of pipe from an exposed water line in a tunnel. The scene cuts to a shot of the same man calmly pacing the floor of an anonymous hotel room with a drink in hand before inexplicably bludgeoning his companion, then subsequently bathing, his clothes neatly folded and arranged on the sink cabinet. Police inspector Takabe (Koji Yakusho) investigates the grisly crime scene and notes that the carotid arteries of the victim were neatly severed, forming an 'X' mark on the woman's neck. However, the disquieting precision of the seemingly calculated murder is negated by the killer's apparent clumsiness in leaving identifiable personal items in the room, and he is immediately apprehended. Meanwhile, on the idyllic coastline of Shirasato, an enigmatic drifter (Masato Hagiwara) approaches a teacher named Hanaoka studying on the beach and casually asks where he is. Moments later, the disoriented young man returns and repeats his question, before explaining his amnesiac condition and asking for help. The well-intentioned Hanaoka brings the drifter home in an attempt to aid the young man in determining his identity. The young man's overcoat indicates that his name is Mamiya, but his memory proves to be impenetrable, and is unable to confirm the information. Instead, Mamiya spends an uneventful evening repeatedly asking Hanaoka the same seemingly innocuous questions. The following day, Hanaoka's wife, Tomoko, is found dead with the familiar signature 'X' on her neck, and the distraught and guilt-ridden teacher attempts suicide by crashing through the window of their home. But is there a common element to the seemingly random, yet intrinsically connected murders beyond each atypical killer's inexplicably fatal compulsion? Cure is an understatedly haunting, metaphoric, and deeply disturbing exploration of identity, alienation, and moral conscience. From the opening shot of Fumie Takabe's (Anna Nakagawa) dispassionate reading of Bluebeard to a distracted (and physically removed) psychiatrist in an austere and a sparsely furnished office (note the distance of the psychiatrist's chairs during the analysis), Kiyoshi Kurosawa establishes a pervasive sense of profound detachment through empty spaces, oppressive industrial landscapes, and isolated framing: the sudden and mysterious appearance of Mamiya on the beach that follows a shot of the unpopulated coastline; Takabe's momentary pause at the doorway of his home that involuntary betrays his overwhelming domestic problems; the monotonous, sensoral drone of train crossing signals, running water, flickering fluorescent lights, and media broadcasts that have become ambient conditions of an urban environment; Mamiya's cluttered rented room near the surreal, polluted wasteland of a garbage incinerator. In essence, the unrelated crimes serve as a modern permutation of the prototypical, conventional serial killer that ascribes responsibility and moral consequence to the manipulation of human will. Inevitably, the indefinable cure for the unconscionable murders becomes a relevant and tragic allegory for the emotional disconnection of human interaction and the repressive, impersonal nature of contemporary existence.H a series of very similar murders don't make sense. all the ordinary explanations - a serial killer, a few copycats - don't pan out, since the killers are all different and none seemed to have a motive. an enigmatic drifter, an amnesiac and hypnotist, seems to be responsible. the real explanation is that murder never makes much sense. what's scary is that maybe nothing much else makes sense. if the great russian filmmaker tarkovsky examines the fragility of meaning but the real possibility of transcendence, k. kurosawa examines the real and palpable danger of it all slipping away. the real accomplishment here is to create an identification with a character who feels sublimated rage at his lot in life, and worries that he may not be so different from the killers. in our identification with this character, we cannot help but question ourselves. unlike the more typical horror that puts the monster outside of us, cure stirs the viewer to question him or herself. what am I really about? what makes me tick? what do I really want? what's really scary is not the monster or the enigmatic psychopath. it's us. it's the living by habit. settling down. sublimation of dissatisfaction and rage. the stuck in a rut. the what's it all for and maybe nothing. kiyoshi kurosawa made this film after noting that most killings happen close to home and are unexpected. the neighbors say "he was an ordinary guy" "I never thought he could do such a thing" - and the perpetrator is often surprised: "it seemed like the right thing at the time," even if the aftermath is horrible. kurosawa doesn't make the conventional film and doesn't stick quite to genre conventions, even when he toys with them (the serial killer film here; the horror film in Pulse and Retribution). he doesn't make it quick and simple and direct, since he's not only interested in telling a story but creating an experience. he knows exactly how to deliver a feeling, and make it linger. here it's a palpable dread, but tied not to a real threat of death but to the question: who am I? what am I capable of? ok. I am a huge K. Kurosawa fan. I watch his movie over and over to retrieve the 'hidden' messages. Cure is the definitve example of such a film where you will find yourself trying to make conclusions hours and even days after watching. the first half of this movie can be watched with very little attention paid to the details, but the last half will most likely send you back to re-watch the film looking for clues. the ending is so open ended and ambiguous that if you are not into having to tie up the loose ends yourself you WILL be left feeling a little upset. not once during the film did it come off as scary...but once you watch it a couple of times and are able to grasp the underlying 'message' ...it can leave you feeling pretty creeped out. as with all K.K. films, this movie is about loss of identity. you will question your identity after watching this movie...... 'who are you?' "Cure," by director Kiyoshi Kurosawa is one of the most intelligent and brilliant thrillers I have seen in some time. In fact, this is one of the best I have ever seen. This is a film that takes patience, however, it is a rewarding experience to view such a masterfully directed film that makes you think. This is not a mindless and directionless film as so many in the horror/thriller genre are. No, this film is a thinking film. The reviewer Wheelchair Assassin described it as "three exists past brilliant" and he is correct. The film opens with what appears to be a normal man on his way home from work. Picking up a prostitute, he later bludgeons her to death. Not content to merely kill her, he sets about placing and X carving into her body. But why? What has this woman done to him to warrant such a horrible act? Moreover, the murderer hardly knew his victim and he had no reason to kill her. Enter detective Kenichi Takabe (Koji Yakusho) who has been investigating a series of grisly and bizarre murders, where each of the victims have had an 'X' cut into their bodies after they have been killed. What do each of these victims have in common with their killers? That is what Detective Takabe is trying to discover. Moreover, what makes the murders so bizarre is that all of the murderer's are found close to the crime scene. Plus, all of the murders have nothing in common except the 'X' carved on their bodies. Detective Takabe (Koji Yakushi) begins to explore a possible connection to the killers and a third party involved. Nothing about the killings make sense, however, Detective Takabe believes that each of the murders are linked together somehow. And with this, director Kiyoshi Kurosawa takes the viewer into an unsettling and mind boggling world of suspense. Detective Takabe teams up with Makato Sakuma (Tsuyoshi Ujiki) who is a clinical psychologist. The atmosphere in the film is terrific and suspenseful, as Takabe himself is going through his own personal problems. While detective Takabe believes that there is a hypnotist behind these killings, he has a hard time convincing Dr. Sakuma. Dr. Sakuma believes that there is no connection, and even tells the detective that "Sometimes a crime has no meaning." Sakuma informs Detective Takabe that it would take a genius to do such an act. Plus, what would be the purpose of such a terrible crime. Vanity perhaps? Or something more sinister? This is where the viewer is introduced to Mamiya (Masato Hagiwara). Not much is known about Mamiya other than he is a former psychology student who has studied the writings of Mesmer, an 18th-century Austrian doctor, who first theorized about the use of hypnotism. I am not giving anything away in this, as the film explores this in the beginning as the viewer is introduced to Mamiya. Detective Takabe knows that Mamiya has had some interaction with most of the killers. However, how is Mamiya able to get others to kill? This film comes at you from all angles: Suspenseful, atmospheric, creepy, nuanced, everything I like about thrillers. And this is what makes this film so great, in that there is the ever present suspense and the constant buildup of the unknown made known, and made unknown again. What is Mamiya's reasons behind his actions? He has amnesia and as such, has no recollection what he is doing. Or does he? And for that matter, is he the only one behind these hypnotic killings. This film is very ambiguous and will not hand you the answers to all the questions you seek. And I liked this aspect of the film. I will not give out anything in this film which will ruin the viewing experience for those who have not seen it, but the beginning, middle and ending are great. The whole film is suspenseful and atmospheric in every way. There are more questions than answers in this terrific thriller. When Sakuma eventually comes to the conclusion that Mamiya poses a danger to detective Takabe and others, he warns the detective to stay away from the suspect. But is there more to Detective Takabe than Sakuma realizes? Furthermore, is it Sakuma who is in more danger from Mamiya? Or is there someone else who poses a greater threat to him? I find each time I view this film, I have more answers than I had the first time. I believe I know what occurs in the ending, and why, and yet I am not 100 percent sure. And maybe thats a good thing. As I wrote earlier, this is a thinking persons thriller/suspense film. As Detective Takabe and the psychologist Sukuma begin to unravel the mystery surrounding Mamiya they come away with more questions that answers. This is a very intelligently done film, and probably Kurosawa's best to date. The films creepy atmosphere, and great soundtrack really enhance the film. This film is not about gratuitous violence and gore. Moreover, if ambiguity is not one of those traits in films you like, then this may not be the film for you. However, I recommend that you rent the film and see if it is your kind of film. I believe it is one of the greatest crime thrillers I have ever seen. I would have given this film 5 stars, but each time I have done so, only 4 stars show up on the review. This is a 5-star film, and it is highly, highly recommended. [Stars: 5] Average Rating:![]() |

Learn How To Think PositivelyReviewsSelf-hypnosis has changed my life, and Glenn Harrold's CD's have TURBOCHARGED my hypnosis sessions. They work. I have suffered from anxiety and depression for most of my life. I tried meds, therapy, read tons of self-help books, and nothing helped. Then last spring I discovered hypnosis. I am literally being transformed. I am happy! I love life! My husband uses it also, and it has greatly improved his life as well. Read a book that explains why and how hypnosis works, like The Genie Within, by Harry W. Carpenter. Learn about your subconscious mind, then try the Glenn Harrold CD's. They work. They will change your life. I am giving this four stars because I just starting using the CD. I have heard it three days and I have felt very positive. I have also asked my wife on my mood lately and she has noticed an improvement. I absolutely love this audio CD! Glenn's voice is perfect for guiding you through the hypnosis experience. I listen to it at least 4x/week and each time it never fails that I fall into this deep relaxation and feel completely rejuvenated when I awake. Dayal I have most of Glenn Harrold's CDs and they are an absolute must have for me. This particular one is excellent and I listen to it on the plane all the time as I travel alot. It is not only an excellent self-hypnosis CD, it is also very effective! I love Glenn Harrold. His voice is so easy to listen too. Highly recommend any of his CDs. Average Rating:![]() |

Unleash Your True Potential (Diviniti) (Diviniti) (Diviniti) (Divinity)ReviewsI have not even had an opporunity to listen as I do not have a cassette deck. I assumed it would be a cd but was diappointed to find a cassette. Worthless in my opinion as who these days even owns a cassette player! I've been listening to this off and on for around a month, but every day for the first two weeks or so. I'm not a millionaire yet - haven't even found a better job - and I haven't written that novel I've always meant to write. But I've noticed my attitude to life is more relaxed and my willingness to stand up for myself - in a non-confrontational way - has improved since I started listening to it. Often, when I listen to self-hypnosis programs, I wake up an hour later and wonder if I heard anything. Harrold doesn't just lull you to sleep; he uses some pretty nice routines for gradually talking you into that trance state where things suddenly seem to make sense and you don't push back against affirming suggestions but you don't sleep through them either. Some of the music, in fact, is surprisingly up-tempo for this type of program. If you're looking for a lift in your mood and attitude, this is a great disc. I love this, espec. track 2, so beautiful & I also love his voice. Unleash Your True Potential (Divinity) (Hypnosis Series) After a year and a half, I still listen to this cd frequently to relax at night and to get more productive the next day. Mr. Harrold's voice is calming, and he is one of those people who comes across as very sincere and kind hearted. The music is good, too. I had never listened to a cd like this...so I admit, the first few times I thought the whole concept seemed cheesy and a little funny. But now that I am used to it, I truly love it!!! This CD was not my very first experience with guided hypnosis...I lost a couple of jeans sizes after listening regularly to the excellent weight-loss CDs of Steven Gurgevich The Self-hypnosis Diet: Use the Power of Your Mind to Make Any Diet Work for You. But this is my first CD from Mr. Harrold, and I'm now a serious fan! I didn't have any serious plans for what this CD should "do" for me when I bought it. I just have been in a personal rut lately, and wanted something to jar me out of it. (My company is laying off co-workers, my pay has been cut, I need to exercise & cannot find the time, hate my job, wish I could find the energy to clean my house like I really should, blah-blah-blah...) I just was hoping this CD would knock me out of my general malaise. I have been playing the entire CD (both sessions) nightly (faithfully, every night, which I think is important) on a portable CD player by my bedside for about 2-3 weeks now. It has had some curious effects on my behavior. It relaxes me and I'm sleeping much better all through the night now, and that alone was worth the price of the CD. But the other odd effects include: 1. Going to the grocery store, I stopped and stared at the cookies for a little while...then went to produce section and loaded my cart with strawberries, blueberries, bananas & seedless grapes. (This just seemed to happen naturally, without the usual heavy sigh & feeling of deprivation). Have been eating the produce, too. Not just buying it and letting it go bad in the fridge. 2. Cleaned the kitchen. All of it. Just had an urge to do so. (I am World's Worst Housekeeper and this is not my usual behavior). Kept at it until the counters were completely spotless & the floors mopped with Pinesol, then stood back and admired my work. This was on a weeknight when I usually watch TV...just turned on the television in the livingroom and turned up the volume...listened to the programs while cleaning. very VERY odd behavior! 3. Have been meaning (for almost a year now) to clear out my Master Closet of the clothes that I don't wear. Things that have been hanging there for a couple of years or more, that no longer fit or look right. Just couldn't seem to find the time or energy to do it. Last night I tore into it (just had the impulse when I got home from work) and bagged up about half the clothing in the closet. Closet now has nice, large spaciousness to it that looks wonderful. 4. Remember the guilt mentioned about not exercising? I sit at a desk all day...drive an hour home each night. The idea of then working out at a gym just makes me tired, thinking about it. I was sitting at my desk last week thinking that exercise is such a chore...not like when you were a kid and it was "play"...and out of nowhere the impulse came to me to look up local Bellydancing classes in my area on my work computer. I am now checking out the schedules & prices for local classes, and have been gleefully checking out finger cymbals & costumes sold online. None of this was predicted (or predictable) behavior for me. I am now just going along with each impulse, waiting to see what strange idea hits me next. Now I am eagerly awaiting shipment of Mr. Harrold's CD on Energy & Motivation Raise Your Energy & Motivationin hope that it might also help give me the drive I need to brush up my computer skills and start searching for a new job. Heal Yourself with Medical Hypnosis: The Most Immediate Way to Use Your Mind-Body ConnectionReviewsReally Steven Gurgevich is why I purchased this audio CD - I had already lost 45 lbs. with a few other self-hypnosis tapes, but I had heard of him and wanted to check out a slightly more "clinical" methodology. I was vaguely familiar with Dr. Weil as the holistic practitioner on various TV programs, but all he really does is support the concept of medical hypnosis to relieve "real" medical problems. Still, the first CD was nice, it puts hypnosis in a positive light. Considering all the nonsense out there about hypnosis, the last thing I wanted was to purchase some kind of mysterious CD! Gurgevich shows techniques on the 2nd tape on how to use hypnosis - well, actually, as he says, all hypnosis is self-hypnosis, so all you have to do is listen to the CD. I want to mention that I don't have any sickness or disease, but that was not my purpose of using the CD - I simply wanted to hear a different way of using hypnosis. And it worked..just like the other hypnosis CD's I had which also had nothing to do with losing weight, I continued to lose more weight on this CD! Now I have purchased many of Gurgevich's CD's including his "Self-Hypnosis Diet" and I learn new ways to go into trance state with each. If you're interested in working with your unconscious mind in order to attain specific goals, then hypnosis can be effective and Gurgevich is excellent at delivering the message! I did not listen to this. My husband is a hard sell. So not sure how it really is. Generally, I do not find that classical music relaxes me as does Andrew Weil's "Breathing: The Master to Self-Healing". I find that excerpts of complete concerti etc. bothers me; I want to hear the whole piece. For others this cd works extremely well. I take Zoloft for anxiety and depression. None the less, I still was having trouble trying to relax. I'm seventy years old, but probably because I eat un-American, and I do exercise regularly, I'm still quite healthy. Still, I couldn't get my monkey brain to shut up and I couldn't make my stiff muscles in my neck and back relax. This is, at times, quite painful. I exhausted myself every day. And I knew that this stress would someday catch up with me. Professor Gurgevich's relaxation exercises, as conveyed on this CD set, has been of enormous help. No wonder that Dr. Weil endorses his presentation. I also appreciate the concept presented: "YOUR MIND-BODY CONNECTION." This insight increases motivation and seems to me to be founded on solid ground. I do not recommend that anyone stop taking antidepressant medication prescribed by their physician, but I do recommend this CD set to anyone needing help relaxing. These exercises work and have no undesirable side effects. ......... OK, I will revise my rating to 2 stars, because after trying again I was able to get through the healing induction two days in a row. It's not the worst CD I ever heard after all. I still can't listen to any of the other inductions or information sessions, and rather than feeling refreshed, the healing induction leaves me feeling subdued and groggy. .......... I have to agree with the other reviewer who gave this one star. I don't know if it his inflated vocabulary, tone of voice, or theatrical delivery, but I found the CD sessions spoken by Dr. Gurgevich to be so grating and irritating that I just couldn't listen to them. I was only able to get through about 15 minutes of his introductory material. Then I went back and gave his progressive relaxation session a try. I kept opening one eye to check how long the session was lasting and couldn't make it to the 5th minute of the 16 minute session. Maybe it's me, but I also found this to be possibly the worst most unlistenable CD I have ever encountered. Average Rating:![]() |
